AI Usage Policy

How SpartaQuiz Uses Artificial Intelligence
SpartaQuiz uses AI to support learning — not to replace teacher judgment or make final academic decisions. This policy explains exactly how AI is used, what limitations apply, and how we protect students in AI-assisted interactions.
Core AI Principles
- AI assists; teachers decide. All AI-generated content is a starting point for teacher review, not a final verdict.
- We do not use student data to train our own AI. We do not use student work, responses, or activity to train or fine-tune our own AI models. We are working to confirm and disclose our underlying hosting platform's AI data-use terms below.
- Transparency is required. AI-generated content is always labeled so teachers and students know when AI is involved.
- Students are guided, not replaced. AI provides hints and feedback — it does not write essays or solve problems for students.
- Teachers are in control. Educators can enable or disable AI features, adjust support levels, and override any AI-generated suggestion.
Writing AI
The Writing AI provides structured feedback on student writing drafts. It does not rewrite student work. Specifically, it:
- Identifies strengths and areas for improvement aligned to the rubric
- Offers revision prompts to guide student thinking
- Highlights organizational issues and suggests restructuring ideas
- Provides sentence clarity guidance
- Supports evidence integration and elaboration development
The Writing AI never produces text intended to replace student writing. All feedback is instructional in nature and requires student effort to act upon.
Teachers can: enable or disable AI feedback, require teacher review before students see feedback, set maximum revision rounds, and control which feedback categories are active.
Math AI
The Math AI guides students through problem-solving without providing final answers. It uses a hint-first approach:
- Initial prompts encourage students to think through the problem independently
- Progressive hints unlock as students attempt the problem
- Worked examples are available only if enabled by the teacher
- Error analysis helps students understand where their reasoning went wrong
- Encouragement is built in to maintain student motivation
Teachers can limit the number of hint requests, disable worked examples, and set practice vs. assessment mode (which reduces AI support).
Quiz & Content AI
Teachers can use AI to generate quiz questions, answer rationales, and instructional content. This AI works exclusively with teacher-provided topics, standards, and grade levels — it does not incorporate student data in generation.
All AI-generated questions should be reviewed by the teacher before assigning to students. SpartaQuiz does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-generated quiz content.
What AI Is Not Used For
- Final grades or academic placement decisions
- Diagnostic labels or learning disability identification
- Standardized assessment scoring
- Behavioral or disciplinary recommendations
- Cross-student profiling or comparison without teacher involvement
- Targeted advertising to students or teachers
- Training AI models on student data
AI Transparency Labels
Wherever AI content is displayed on the Platform, it is marked with a clear indicator (e.g., "AI-assisted feedback" or "Generated by AI"). This ensures users always know when they are interacting with AI-produced content.
Third-Party AI Providers
SpartaQuiz is built on a third-party AI application platform, which powers some of our AI features. We do not ourselves use student data to train AI models. We are working to confirm, in writing, our hosting platform's own terms regarding AI model training on data submitted through applications built on it, and will update this policy once that is confirmed. We select and review our providers for strong data privacy practices.
AI Limitations
AI systems can make mistakes. Feedback may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or contextually inappropriate. Teachers are responsible for reviewing AI output before using it in academic decisions. Parents and students may raise concerns about AI feedback through their teacher or by contacting us directly.
